Looks good! Have you considered asking the students what type of homework they are more likely to complete (i.e. straight and to the point, flashcard games to get parents involved, interactive projects)
I think that you will find more and more people apposed to traditional grill and drill homework. While there are those who see its value when the homework is relevant to the student's home life and is in moderation. It will be interesting to see how much homework is actually given out. I only gave homework once a week when I figured out that one of my students was averaging 4 hours of homework a NIGHT in middle school.
Garcia, that is a good idea about asking the students for input about the homework! I was considering their input after the homework was assigned, but I didn't even think about asking what they thought before hand!
Andrea, we just met as a team and pared down our homework assignments! I teach elementary, and it is recommended that students do no more than 10 minutes times their grade level. 4 hours a night in middle school seems like WAY too much! Kudos to you for recognizing that kids need a school/life balance too!
